  • Have had these cams in use almost a month. Good for daytime surveillance. Not so much at night. They are outside and have weathered some severe storms. For the money I don’t think they can be beat.

  • Every time a car goes by, every time you pass in front of the signal, every time the camera moves you get a ton of static. I have had this camera for well over a month now and it literally has me walking on eggshells not to place any furniture or metal objects between the path of signal between the camera and the receiver. Get ready to get the tin foil out and play rabbit ear games to get the signal to come in clear, because its that bad.

To add to this, night vision is horrible, I get random static from what I believe to be a neighbor’s wireless phone, and even the daytime picture with no static isn’t quality enough to where I could make out somebodys face and it certainly wouldnt be enough to charge anybody with any kind of crime. This camera is basically only good for one thing: a toy. Thats it. It will show you when somebody is approaching, and thats it. Save your money, indeed.

  • If you can get the cameras and reciever in locations that are compatible with each other, the signal isn’t that bad. It’s a 2.4Ghz wireless system, so if you have older 2.4 cordless phones or a 2.4 wireless router system in your house you can expect to have interference with this system. I can’t use the sound feature on this because of that. And if you have too many walls between the camera and receiver, the picture won’t come in.

Great if you’re only using it for close range, as in no more than the next room.

  • I had a wire security camera prior and found that this wireless wasn’t nearly as good. My old cameras had a much wider view and had better night vision. It’s unbelievable how the signal breaks up going through just a few walls. Except for the problems of running new wire (the old was not compatable) I wouldn’t recommend any wireless units unless it has no or minimal wall barriers.

  • I purchased this to add on to my current system, which has 2 cameras from astak. Works great like the others. It is very easy to install. I keep one extra camera on the ready for when we go for overnights or vacations because it is so convenient = the receiver plugs into any A/V port (there is always a TV wherever we go, or owe can use our portable DVD player). We have a few reception problems because of several wireless devices (phone, router), but not too bad. It would be nice if the channel could be changed on the cameras to improve reception – however, hasn’t hindered our use of it so far. The picture is still clear enough. The color aspect is not significant…depends on how you use it. We monitor our kids with it. Great product overall. I highly recommend it over a baby monitor any day.
