In trauma , the lack of a good airway , lack of perfusion (adequate blood flow), an altered level of conciousness or disruption of the functions of brain and spinal cord does kill .

People not helping the pedestrian. I’m not surprised. Most people aren’t used to dealing with emergencies or car accidents so adrenalin goes high and people don’t think as well. They probably didn’t see the guy get hit so the first thing you would think of is driver. It even can happen to EMS personnel. First step: scene size up. Get a big picture, determine hazards, and number of patients.
